America’s second-oldest park
San Pedro Park is the second-oldest park in the United States and the oldest park in the state of Texas. In 1852, it was designated as a public park for all time. There is a wealth of history to be found in San Pedro Park. The park was a prisoner camp for Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War. The park presently has over 60 hiking trails, a pool, a skate plaza, and the San Pedro Library.

The world record for tamale making

The oldest church in Texas
The San Fernando Cathedral was built in 1738 and is still considered to be the spiritual center of San Antonio’s Catholic community. Over five thousand people attend worship sessions over the course of only one weekend.
